Boiler Brandy Snifter
"Imperial Red, Barley Wine, and Imperial Stout" blend from barrels.
Deep mahogany with shades of brown and slight red tint with a bubbly head of 1/2 finger. Recedes to a thick fingernail with bubbles remaining on top.
Aroma is strong alcohol and oak barrel; some malt sweetness, pine, grass, caramel, vanilla, slight maple candy.
Flavor is not really focused, but rather a mish-mash of beers (imagine that!) that kind of bounce off each other and hug once in awhile. Red ale is most prominent, followed by hoppy barleywine, and then finally a touch of cocoa from the stout. Pine, honey, oak, toffee, slight cocoa dust, grass, and nutty red malt. Oak and alcohol aftertaste.
Feel is sticky, hot, very carbonated, a little thin, but still heavy in a heated way. Slight stickiness and drying resins on the back end.
Overall, not bad, but not really my thing. It comes across a little messy and not particularly a good blend. Blends are tough though...I commend them for trying it at least. They'll get the blending right eventually!
