Tallgrass Globe snifter
Deep inky black with an angry finger of head. But it disappears like a magic trick in thin air. There's no head! I can't believe my eyes! Curious as that may be...
Aromas of huge jelly doughnut, powdered sugar, deep roasted malt, sappy fig, coffee, and plum syrup.
Flavor is jelly doughnut, blueberry syrup, blackberry syrup, maple/blueberry bagel, french toast sticks, chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, and toffee. Slight coffee bitterness creeps up at the end.
Feel is slick and roasty, coming across watery at first and then building up in the mouth to a nice thick medium-heavy body. Roasty finish. Moderate warming alcohol.
Overall : If you are thinking of a jelly doughnut and other sweet breakfast items, this beer absolutely slays. Otherwise, it comes across weird and bizarre, nothing you can pinpoint. The first couple sips I had I was wondering what kind of sweet cloying concoction this was, but once I identified it, I began enjoying this immensely. I could see how this would be a total turn off for people who don't like really sweet stouts. Fortunately it's really hitting the spot tonight and that's all I need.
