This is a unique brown made with a blend of herbs (sage, mint, lemon thyme, basil and woodruff). You won’t get a ton of herbs, don’t worry... it just adds a nice complexity to this brown ale. This finely crafted ale was made with wheat, roasted wheat, black, rye, roasted barley and Marris malts then lightly hopped with Hallertau.

On tap at brewery (an herbed brown ale):
Pours a medium brown that looks a bit darker in the glass. A very light beige head clears to a thick creamy collar that somehow avoids clinging to the glass.
Nose has a caramel and light chocolate sweeter notes to go with a medium toasted bread and light herbal notes. There’s a little butterscotch that throws things off just a little.
Taste continues with the caramel and medium toast notes, even a little coffee further back in some sips. The herbal notes are light themselves, but do also lighten the toasted malt flavors - including what I presume is the lemon thyme. A light medium feel has just below average carbonation to make it a little smoother/creamier than its heft normally brings.
An interesting beer that has its roots about right, and a nice use of additional ingredients without having them take over the beer.
