This dark and delicious stout is such a treat, made with a blend of 5 malts and finished with toasted coconut, butterscotch, cocoa nibs, and graham cracker. All the makings of a classic Magic Bar. If you’ve never had one, this is the best way to try it. And it sure packs more punch than the cookie!

On tap at brewery:
In the sunlight, I can tell this beer doesn’t quite reach pure blackness, but it is a very dark brown. A beautiful medium tan cap sits atop the beer, waiting for me to break through it to get to the liquid below it.
Before I do that, I let my nose prove the contents from about a centimeter. Big graham cracker comes with a nice coconut kick. The caramel and chocolate are there as well, but take a back seat to the graham, especially. There’s a little roasted coffee bean in there as well, preventing the beer from seeking too sweet.
My lips meet the foam, and the beer rolls over my palate, first with a caramel and cocoa influenced regular strength stout. The stout has a little tang, which is likely the lactose, and a bit of a medium-roast coffee flavor. Not nearly as sweet as expected, the graham lays a foundation along with the roasted malts upon which acceptable levels or caramel and to a lesser degree sweetened coconut can dance.
A medium feel, actually, with a medium amount of carbonated bite. It is under 6%, which I think helps keep this beer from getting too heavy and sweet.
Another beer from this brewery where the added ingredients play as light modifiers to the base beer. The nose is powerful with the additions, but the taste balances the beer with the flavorings pretty well.
