A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2018. Given to me for Christmas by my brother. Described on the label as a blonde beer; the ingredients include sugar.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich amber colour with plentiful suspended sediment and low carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a moment or two before subsiding and dissipating.
S: Aroma of light malt with hints of earthy yeast, subtle grain and a whisper of leafiness. Quite yeasty. Pretty clean but very bland.
T: Tastes of pale malt with notes of earthy yeast, subtle esters, grain and a faint leafiness. Fairly dry with good balance; a delicate bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, lightly tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and good body. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of grainy malt and earthy yeast.
O: There's little technically wrong with this beer, other than being a tad yeasty, but it's rather one-dimensional. Subpar looks, especially the lack of carbonation. Aroma and flavour are OK but bland. Decent body but lacks texture. Drinkable enough, however it just doesn't hold your attention. Perhaps a fresher example would be better?
