From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This mighty fine maibock pours
a luminous red tinged amber color (although they said it was a maibock at the
brewery) with a nice head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin light
swirling layer, and shows spotty lacing. Nose of breaded malts, honey, caramel,
and subtle floral notes. Flavors hit the right notes for the style with nicely done
breaded malts over a light zesty layer of floral hops and caramel malts with a
hint of orchard fruits and subtle yeast notes. Very nice mouth feel; medium
body, medium light carbonation, and a smooth sweet finish with a lightly
balanced hop note.
Overall a fantastic brew from a brewery that needs more attention!
Reminds me of the quality brews from JAFB in Wooster which I dearly
miss. Excellent!
Cheers
