Let's hope third times a charm... Last year this place was Hell or High Water (terrible name, my previous review below) formerly, Guvnor's Brewery. The physical place remains unchanged but for signage ... although, the beer is better (IMHO), markedly better. This section of Norwalk has always struck me as interesting; there are a number of quality food and craft beverage vendors on the street, yet business turnover seems quite high. The parking is limited and expensive, but there is no shortage of craft beer options in the neighborhood.


The place used to be Guvnor's Brewery, in the SONO section of Norwalk, and appears to be unchanged except for the name over the door. Place has sort of a dive bar/ steam punk vibe. Bartender was very personable, and there were 8 beers on tap, the two that I tried were unremarkable.

This is a nice quiet little place on Washington St. in South Norwalk. Formerly Hell Or High Water, it is now under entirely different ownership. While it isn't the most lively place, the staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. I have been in Connecticut for many years and, having grown up in Upstate NY, they make the best chicken wings I have had since moving here. The beers are nice. Most of them are IPAs but they do have a nice porter, kolsch and dubbel. Growlers are available and at a reasonable price.
