Weizen Up

Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. This beer draws a mainly cloudy/hazy light golden color with a nice, white head that’s about an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles eventually to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass and a decent film layer of surface. Just a touch of lacing in the inside of the glass. Has a bready, wheaty, somewhat malty aroma w/ only slight hints of banana and clove. A very similar flavor profile, with bread and wheat malt followed by hints of banana and clove. Needs more banana and clove. While still a nice and refreshing beer on this hot and humid mid summer day, this drinks more like an American Wheat Ale than a Hefeweizen. Has a crisp, smooth, somewhat frothy, slightly creamy, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish. Not bad, but just not quite to the style I feel.
