The beer pours with an intense creamy head which leaves rings on the glass. A dark brown beer with no visible carbonation.
The smell is malty with a caramel and subtle chocolate malt note. The label mentions rye malt and oats, which I can smell. A nutty, greasy, somewhat musty smell that makes the smell more interesting. There is only a bit of yeast character in the nose, which appears to give a little clove and a flowery smell.
The taste is malty with a little roast and a deep caramel maltiness. The rye malt and oats are present in the taste, adding a nutty and grainy twist. The beer is a bit sweet, but not sticky. The roast and related malt bitterness give the beer a nice twist on the otherwise syrupy sweet bokbier style. The beer is very drinkable.

Taste is very enjoyable...nutty, a hint of roastiness, citrus...not detecting the abv in this offering. Starts mildly sweet and has some gentle bitterness on the back end.
Finishes nicely... a hint of that roasty flavor hangs around to savor the flavor.
Mouthfeel is lacking some real depth...a touch too much carbonation to make this one real drinkable. I guess that's a good thing, because this is the only one I have, but is a fine example of the style and would do almost anything to get the chance to try this one in it's homeland.

BB Oct 2007. Good presentation with nice yellow head and darkbrown beer with white haze. Nose is roasty, carramalted, litle grassy and a slight amount of hops. Most obvious top fermenting carracter also but overal good and fresh nose.
Taste is full and burnt, lots of roast, lilte phenolic and quiet bitter. Not a bad brew but misses IMO a litle maltbody. Also is taste not 100% in balance as roast and bitterpart make it edgy and mouthfeel hard. Still and enjoyable brew to me well worth trying once.
