Dark brown color, with red edges. A beautiful light brown head.
Malt, caramel, mou, candy sugar, and some herbal notes at the nose.
Malty taste, but with a almost watery body.
Not bad, but not much alike a scottish ale. Again candy sugar.
Not a great beer, but drinkable.
In the aftertaste againcandy sugar, herbal notes, and maybe a light spiciness.

Malty and peculiar dark amber ale.

Brown and a little cloudy in the glass. Nice creamy head.Malty with a touch of hops. Range of unusual flavors but hard to call it a Scotch ale. Assortment of fruity dark flavors-- raisins and cider. A bitterish, grainy aftertaste crowds the back of the throat.

Rich and interesting for a few sips, but flavors get murky. Seems to lack something-- either a hint more of hops or a touch of acidity to give it some definition.

This was my first Scotsh Ale, so I am not very familiar with the style. Although it was a nice beer, I found some tastes to be hard to place, I am not sure whether they come from the yeast or might be caused by the ingredients or possibly an infection.
Colour was dark brown with minimal lacing. The initial head died away instantly.
Smell was ackward, slightly sour with some oaky notes or peat? I smelled for 5 minutes without having a clue what it smelled like. Oak or peat comes closest, but it is not exactly correct.
Taste was merely the same, slightly sour, oaky and peat. Also something that reminded me of beers fermented with dry yeast. When the beer reached roomtemperature, the oakiness was replaced by a distinct clove-like (herbal), woody, caramellic and chocolatemalt taste. Body was medium.
It was a pretty complex beer, with a wide range of flavours and tastes, but I found it to be oaky and woody to really appreciate it to the full extent.

A gem found at the Lowlander Cafe, Drury Lane, Central London. The beer label has the cartoon character "Klein Duimpje" playing Scottish War Pipes, against the background of a Scottish-style castle in a rural area, highlighting the words: "special beer of the type of Scottish Ale". BBE Dec. 2006, served lightly chilled in a small jug.

A: bright reddish brown colour, a nice foamy off-white beer head sustains well, on top of a lively fizzy body.
S: intense, prune-ish sour-sweet fruits dominate the nose; backed by pronounced and mixed aroma of caramel-malts, ripe cherries and berry-fruits (with a touch of strawberries~~), dark candy sugar, rum-soaked raisins, and a wee bit of woody note... overall very aromatic and fruity, not as heavily creamy+peat-smoked malty as a genuine Scottish ale. But this is ve...ry nice indeed~~
T: a perfumy, dark candy-sugary palate ladden with deeply aromatic dark/caramel malts, a lighter flavour of sour-sweet, ripe dark fruits, and some dryish spices... turning more dryish on the mouthfeel and leaving a long-lasting, bitter-sweet fruity finish. Only a tiny bit of warming alc. is felt down the throat.
M&D: pretty soft mouthfeel given the constantly smooth fizziness. This ale is a full-bodied, full-flavoured, but very fruity interpretation of a strong Scottish Ale/WeeHeavy. Maybe it has to do with different techniques and ingredients in the brewing process from the Scots, but the end result is remarkable. Worth seeking out!
