Brewed with Australian Vic Secret and US Talus hops. 5.3% ABV.
On-draught @ The Free House, Nelson New Zealand.
Silky smooth, coating, medium-bodied, well carbonated.
Resinous hop profile leans into the coating mouthfeel. Floral. Grapefruit pith. Subdued pine sap. Floral hop flavour. Low oil hops. Some concomitant hop bitterness.
Malt backbone is mostly pale malt. Not getting any of the toffee described by the brewery, but it does have an English malt flavour to it hinting at biscuit and marmalade.
Balanced but a bit underwhelming for a pale ale in 2023. Vic Secret doesn't seem well showcased.
