Picked up a 16 oz can from the Energy Mart cooler on Long Shoals Road on 1-25-25 for $3.29. Canned 11-21-24; consumed 3-25-25. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured black with an okay tan head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is nice, malts are mildly roasted so the coffee and chocolate shine through.

Taste is a mild roasted malt base that assimilates the coffee and chocolate adjuncts nicely. Barrel is not overt but along with the coffee works nicely to balance.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth.

Overall this is a pretty nice beer. Glad i was able to try!

16 oz can from the Wall of Beer in Clemson, SC ($3.49), served in a ThermoFlask.

This bold stout has excellent balance in its mix of flavors: Chocolate, coffee, dark roasted grain flavors, and a touch of rum in the aroma make for a pleasing coffee stout. Well hidden ABV.

Good stouts can be hard to find and this one is definitely memorable. It smells of semi-sweet chocolate laced with a fine touch of rum. The taste has a soft, coffee roasted flavor with (again) that fine touch of rum; you can taste a hint of coffee but it isn’t the main accent of this brew. For 9.3%, this is a particularly smooth stout. It doesn’t sit too heavy in your mouth like a lotta stouts can (I think of the Rasputin Imperial Russian stout; good but definitely a heavy brew). Overall, a definite 4.25 outta 5. We carry this where I work so this definitely won’t be my last experience with this incredible beer from Amor Artis brewing!

Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is good.

Smell: It has aromas of plums up front with some rum and a bit of coffee and roast.

Taste: Chocolate and rum are up front in the flavor with coffee and roast in support. The plums are low in the background.

Feel: It has a full and silky body with alcohol warming in the finish.

Overall, the rum does not overpower all the other elements like many other rum barrel beers allowing for a complex flavor experience.
