Poured from a 750ml bottle into pint glass in December 2022. This is the 2022 release, and I drank this within 2 weeks of purchase at their West Reading Brewery.
Appearance: Very dark black with 2 finger head. The head was dark tan, with fine bubbles, and last a few minutes. There was no head remaining after a few minutes, there was no lacing on the glass.
Smell: Strong aroma of chocolate and bourbon that filled the air as soon as the bottle was opened. There is some additional sweetness like roasted malts, caramel, and vanilla. Not much hop aroma. Some roasted coffee as well.
Taste: There is an interesting combination of flavors. There are strong chocolate and smoky rousted stout malt flavors. Also, some coconut, vanilla, coffee and a little caramel flavor. There is some bitterness from hops. There is a strong alcohol presence that matches 10.6% listed on the label.
Mouth-feel: This is a big beer, as expected, and feels thick in the mouth. An extremely smooth and creamy body.
This is an excellent Imperial Stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. The chocolate, maple, and roasted malt flavors nicely contrast with the alcohol, and balance each other. It is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. It does not list bourbon barrel aged on the label, but there is bourbon aroma and taste, maybe from the strong ABV. I would definitely buy this again.
