Collaboration with Bluejacket
Tmavy Lezak 4.4%
Incredibly tasty beer made with our buds in D.C Bluejacket. Medium-bodied, wildly drinkable. Slightly dry finish that balances perfectly with the bitterness. Bohemian Malt and Saab. Step-mashed and conditioned near freezing for way too long. This Dark Czech Lager is a new favorite…

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear medium to dark chestnut brown in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate mahogany + amber + garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense fizzy foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering approximately 80% of the surface of the beer surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Very light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of slightly roasted + bready + toasted + chocolate malts with a minimal amount of grainy sweetness. Light aromas of spicy hops and light aromas of lager yeast.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of slightly roasted + bready + toasted + chocolate malts with a minimal amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are slightly heavier than light flavors of spicy hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Light bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront with a clean finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly crisp + clean mouthfeel. Enjoyable malt backbone with spicy hops. Perfect for a hot summer afternoon.

Appearance: Clear saddle brown. Frothy off white head with good retention.
Aroma: Bready, a little herbal/spicy
Flavor: Malt forward, bread and hint of chocolate. Spicy hops. Restrained bitterness.
Mouth feel: Medium bodied, drying.
Overall: Another winner in the highly drinkable, delicious beers categories from this brewery in Duluth. It is a Czech Dark Lager. For those more familiar with German Dunkel, that would be an appropriate comparison in terms of being a dark beer that drinks lighter. Easily drink this on a summer afternoon. Malt forward with bread and a hint of chocolate in the backbone. Highlighted by spicy hops. Well crafted.
