Wow, a really nice doppelbock here. I think they’re one of the toughest beers to get right - many are too sweet or too alcoholic or otherwise out of balance. This one pours a nice reddish brown, great head retention. Smell of chestnuts, dark fruit, dark bread is pretty directly echoed in a well-balanced, surprisingly drinkable body. Perfect carbonation - enough to make it drinkable but retain some body. Overall, a tiny bit short on complexity but otherwise is right on the mark.
