this is a little different than i am used to in the style. usually these are like belgian white and american ipa mashups, with belgian yeast at least as prominent as the hops, but that is not the case here. the white part seem to be wheat malt in an otherwise pretty american ipa. there are some neat spicy esters here, possibly yeast derived, but this is entirely hop driven to my palate. its gentle feeling beer, with a light pils malt and wheaty base, soft and inviting, with great carbonation and nice dryness at the end, almost crisp for what it is, definitely a summertime take on the style, refreshing as it is flavorful. i like the grain influence here, usually a missing element in this style, its a great foundation for the lemony and grapefruity hops, which smell and taste super fresh, relatively high alpha, and dosed robustly. this was one of the better hoppy beers we had in here, maybe a step behind their nys chinook pale ale, but a tasty and drinkable hot weather offering and a neat interpretation of a style that could use this kind of rethinking...
