We are enjoying Hop Harvest! We got fresh Columbus and Mount Hood hops from Cowsucker Creek Farm in Hamlin, NY and malts from Murmuration Malts in East Bloomfield. This beer, made with 100% NYS hops and malts, has the piney, resinous flavor indicative of a West Coast style IPA.

On tap at K2 Brothers Brewery in Penfield, NY.
This one pours a pretty dark amber color, with a small white head, and lots of lacing. The color on this is not promising.
This smells so malty, with an earthy and almost dirt-like hop character.
K2 is usually a pretty solid brewery, but this is a thorough swing and a miss from them. What little hop character you can actually discern isn’t great – it’s dirty, earthy, and astringent. Wet hop beers can lean into that profile a little bit, but that’s the only flavor profile on this one. Beyond that, the malt character is just too sweet – this was maltier than the scotch ale and the Oktoberfest I had on the same visit. How does that happen?
This is not drinkable really at all, just too big bodied for the style.
This was a righteous mess of a beer. I would not recommend under any circumstances.
