This one pours a muddy and murky brown color, with a very small head, and no lacing. Already from the way this looks, it really does not look promising.
This smells like maple, artificial caramel syrup, and milk chocolate.
This is just ungodly sweet. It’s so messy – it tastes like the brewery just accidentally bottled pure maple syrup instead of the beer coming out of the barrel. There’s no barrel character here – aging this beer in barrels was a waste of time, space, and money. I don’t really get much walnut, and it doesn’t even taste like a stout is the base beer here – like I said, it just tastes like I’m drinking a glass of maple syrup. If the maple was cut down by like 80% this could be better, maybe? It’s hard to tell if there’s any bones in here worth their salt.
This is basically undrinkable. It’s syrupy, it’s too sweet, there’s barely any carbonation.
I’m not sure they even tasted this out of the barrel before releasing it. It should have been dumped, it was a failure.
