12 ounce can poured into a dimpled mug.
PKGD:071724

L: Clear and lively amber pour, 3 finger off-white head, rocky foam has moderate retention.
S: Dark bread/bread crust, hints of spicy hops and graham cracker.
T: Balanced to hop from the start, herbal hops standing over the nutty malt flavor, assertive orange zest bitterness to finish.
F: Mild carbonation, medium bodied, frothy/creamy feel, a little chalky.
O: OK, but doesn’t hold up to the lot from Munich.

From the can, it pours a clear coppery amber color with a modest off-white head that soon diminishes to a ring. The nose gets malt and some caramel spiciness. The mouth follows with a caramel aftertaste.

Darker amber pour with moderate head. Nose is bready and malty. Taste is traditional marzen: light and malty. Mouthfeel is crisp with a good amount of carbonation. Overall, a good, but not great, beer.

12 ounce can - $2.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours an amber-gold body, quite clear with a sudsy, whitish head.

Smell: A bready, biscuity vibe with some fairly faint floral hop notes and a smidgen of caramel.

Taste: A flash of sugary caramel sweetness ahead of the incoming bready, biscuity malts. Modestly floral, minutely herbal hops with a little bit of bitterness. Some light alcohol showing. Toasty, bready malts on the lightly warming finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It'll do.

12 oz can from the Wall of Beer in Clemson SC ($1,99). A packaging date of 10 August 2022 is stamped on the bottom of the can.

Appearance. This is a very typical looking marzen, with a clear copper colored body and a modest off-white head.

The malt dominated aroma carries a note of spicy hops. The flavor follows, including hints of caramel and biscuits.

Overall. A good version of the style.

One of the better marzen beers I have had in a while...

...Looked spectacular and tasted full and rich of bread, some maltiness, and a hint of orange flavor. Mouthfeel started out well carbonated but it tamped down as it warmed. Overall, a very good beer, nothing overly spectacular but it sure is a very solid and very good offering of this style.

A really good Marzen. Pours a clear amber color with a large frothy off-white head fraom a 12 oz can. Good lacing and retention. Aroma is malty, and a little floral and nutty presence. Pretty good complexity for a Marzen!! Taste is more of the same. A malty beer with bready malt, a little floral bitterness and nutty flavor. Mouthfeel is crisp and rich enough for the style. A few pints of this would be a welcome Oktoberfest celebration!!!

Pours a deep amber honey color. Some light haze, not clear like the Weihenstephaner I had yesterday. Honey sweetness with herbal noble hop character that gives way to delicate nuttiness. Carb feels a bit low but that could be due to this being a crowler fill. There is a little bit lacking of depth for what errs more on the side of Marzen vs festbier. That's not say that this is a bad beer. It's not. I prefer more richness from the malt and the hop character is just a touch overbearing.
