I was surprised at the two mediocre Virginia reviews from 2019. New Realm just started offering up this beer again in August 2020 and it was pretty good!!! Picked up a crowler at the Virginia brewery and just drank half of it with a spicy, heavy Mexican style casserole. The beer held up well to the strong tasting food. Poured a hazy straw yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head. head retention is excellent and there are wide bands of lacing on the entire length of the pint glass. Aroma is fruity, tropical fruits featuring pineapple. Taste is more of the same with some dank hoppiness thrown in. I would call this a New England style IPA if I was describing it. Aroma is fairly strong, taste is pronounced and pleasant. Mouthfeel is rich enough and there is a moderate amount of bitterness. No annoying alcohol presence, this beer goes down pretty smooth. I thought it was a tasty brew and look forward to the rest of it tomorrow.

Wow where to begin. No canned on date on this can. Served in a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Hazy gold with some particulate and 2-finger off-white head with good retention and copious lacing.

Aroma is weird with some Brett-type sock-shoe aroma and some peach and strawberry aroma that are there with strained smelling. Very herbal and earthy with some chocolate/fudge notes and not what I would be looking for in a “hazy double IPA.”

Flavor is also off base with a lot of herbal earthy nondescript flavors and a bit of peach, berry, and apricot in the finish. Bitterness is low. I am not feeling the “King of Double IPAs” from the label.

Feel is smooth with lowish carbonation and a creamy feel overall.

This beer is a huge miss and a big disappointment from New Realm. So far New Realm is not hitting too well with me.

From the bottom of the can: "CANNED 10/24/19 11:17"

Appearance: The body is hazy, allowing very fuzzy and thick looking shadows to be visible through the glass. It has a golden-brown colored body with slightly lighter shades of burnished gold as the light passes through parts of the beer. There are very small suspended solids of various sizes; high turbidity. The head is fluffy and white with a medium-short stature that has excellent retention and lacing.

Aroma: The beer has an over-ripe fruit smell, like spoiled mangos. There is a bit of alcohol scent to the beer.

Taste: There is a light mineral taste to the beer like when you get gravel dust stuck in your mouth. There is also a slightly fruit-like flavor that somewhat resembles peach. The finish tastes slightly herbal with a bit of rag weed.

Mouthfeel: It is smooth and light bodied. It has a light bitterness. Alcohol presence and the odd flavor combinations hamper drinkability but the smoothness of the beer helps to compensate.

Overall: The can states that this is a "HAZY DOUBLE IPA" and it seems like it's an attempt at a New England Double IPA rather than a more classic Double IPA that happens to be hazy. The aroma and flavor profiles are off to the point where it wouldn't be something I would recommend or drink again. There are other beers in the market that float in the "average" category that are better than this. On the positive side it is a very good looking beer and the head retention and lacing are both much better than some of the top competitors.
