Parting Shot drinks like an IPA but is deep black in color with subtle roasted notes that dark beer drinkers crave, along with a hop-forward taste that IPA fans desire.

Picked up a 12 oz can at the brewery. Pours a dense dark brown color with some ruby highlights coming through if you hold the glass up to a light. Medium size off-white head with good retention. Wide bands of lacing cover the glass and remain throughout. This is a good looking beer. Aroma contains both bready and roasted malt and mild bitterness. Fairly subtle but pleasant. Taste is more robust. The hoppy characteristics are more pronounced while the malt is still prominent and maintains a nice balance. Mouthfeel is rich enough with enough bitterness to counteract the malty backbone. I had it with bratwurst and potato pancakes and it held up quite nicely. This is a good representative Black IPA.
