This Cleveland style Kolsch is a light, crisp and beautifully refreshing golden ale. Our Kolsch has pleasant, subtle pear aroma, and a delicately fruity, lightly bitter flavor in the mouth, due to the use of German Hallertau hops. A classic take on a German Kolsch, 17th State Lighted Kolsch will leave you refreshed and thirsting for more.

16 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of wheat, cracker, white bread, lemon, pear, and red apple; with lighter notes of herbal, grass, peppery, and yeast earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with pale malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of lemon, pear, red apple, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness of pale malt, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness/carbonation. High carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious kolsch. All around nice robustness of pale malt, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Nicely clean pale/wheat malts; with mild earthy hop balance and restrained yeast fruits. Quite a bit of over carbonation, but really enjoyable and well made style example.
