nice head with fine foam, dark opaque brown, earthy color. starts with a small bitter bite, nutty and rich, malty, still light on the finish. smell is soft and warm, straw. overall a nice common.

Great beer if you're a fan of darker beers. Deep brown color, light, roasted malt aroma, mild roasted malt and sweet taste with a light hoppy grassiness & bitterness on the finish, & a full-bodied mouth feel. Roasted malt flavor is that of dark toast & sweetness is slightly fruity & honey-like. More full-bodied feel makes it less crushable than the ABV lets on & is more on the filling side like most dark beers are. Head retention isn't great. Very carbonated but you need to pour it steep if you buy it canned & take it home or you won't get a good head. Overall a solid beer but not for everyone.

A long-forgotten style, not brewed much any more. Similar to a California common or Steam Beer. This is always my go-to at Ten Mile.

a steam beer type here, we dont see enough of these around anymore. this one is a little darker than i am used to in other examples of the style, but it has that lager sort of lightness to it, and really drinks quite a bit easier than it looks like it should. there is some definite malt sweetness here, the grain really drives this, some honey richness up front and a bready sort of density running through it as well, but it has a drier finish where an almost doughy essence from the yeast comes in, and there is neat balance here even without much contribution from the hops. i get a light soy sort of note, a molasses thing and then the savory, its odd, but its appealing somehow. i also get some english character, either from the malt or the yeast that gives this a kind of old world classic vibe. kind of an odd take on the style, at least compared to what i have seen others do with it, but a flavorful glass of beer that i definitely enjoyed. my first beer from ten mile, pretty cool old school style ale here...
