Pours a beautiful transparent red with plenty of rocky foam and a small head that sticks around. Dank hoppy aroma that doesn't match the flavor, which is bitter and heady at first, but deepens into a rather tasty chocolate and soft brown bread. Biting bitterness on the end, no real sweetness, and good carbonation to keep it drinkable.
Definitely grew on me over the course of the pint and the 8.3% abv is well hidden. Rich in flavor and an enjoyable drink, just doesn't match the beautiful pour quite as much as I'd hoped. Thankfully not a red IPA though and really feels like a true heavy red ale.
