A sweet malty flavorful beer with hints of caramel, chocolate, and coffee perfectly balanced with American hops leaving it clean and crisp. And don't be fooled by its dark color and full bodied flavor. It is surprisingly light and should be enjoyed all year long. Pair it with any food...you'll enjoy it with everything you eat.

Pour in a shaker glass at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Meridian MS
Dark brown/black in color with a huge frothy tan head that persists.
Rich bready caramel and chocolate with hints of earth and spice to counter. Nice intro to MS beer!

Pours dark brown, muddily semitransparent, with a light tan head. Lots of lacing. Smell is slightly soapy, and there’s a mineral line in the flavor. Bursting with malty goodness, chocolate and rich bread, with a subtle bitter bite in the finish. Comfortable feel, easy to drink. A nice brown.

LOOK: Pours a deep dark brown, near black. Opaque, with a tan head that recedes very quickly to no head at all. Some side glass lace noted.
AROMA: Burnt chocolate, roasted malts some sweetness. Malts dominate.
TASTE: A little caramel added to the burnt malts. Hops are not really evident.
FEEL: Low carbonation.
I like a good Brown Ale, this one misses the mark.

Had The Local Brown Ale, currently contract-brewed at Lazy Magnolia, at Babalu, Jackson, Mississippi, on draft into fancy pint tumbler.
Pours apparently opaque dark brown, transmitting a little gold light at the edges, but when backlit dark red-amber with clarity, with 1-finger light-tan head, which quickly dissipates, but leaves some nice, sketchy lace. Mild malty aroma, with a bit of hop spice. Mild carbonation delivers some sweet malt, which grows into nice caramel malt flavor, before bittering hops arrive to balance out the finish.
The Local Brown Ale occupies the simple, sweet (and hoppy) spot of the American Brown Ale tradition . . . except for its beautiful dark red-amber color.
