A Mild, I would categorize this as a Dark Mild, but that doesn't really matter. Aged on French Oak chips with coco nibs.
A: Pours a dark reddish/brown color. This should definitely be listed as a Dark Mild. Anyway, a nice beige head forms with good retention and lace.
S: Toasted malts, grains, bread. Maybe light chocolate? Mostly cereal grains in the nose. Enjoyable.
T: Cereal grains, light toasted malts, a hint of chocolate. Fairly simple, but enjoyable.
M/O: A light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Easy and enjoyable to drink. maybe the only thing the brewery has made that I could come back to for another.
At first, I was excited to try this, as I love session strength Milds. While I did enjoy this, and is pretty simple as the style should be. The additions of the French Oak and coco nibs is really minimal, and not even sure why that is needed? Even with that, I find the examples from Holler to have much more depth, without having the additives. Enjoyable, but not exceptional.
