A: Pours a dark black color. At first a dense one finger tan head forms, that recedes in a minute with no lace.
S: Minimal barrel up front. Chocolate, coco powder, and I can't really pick much else out.
T: Like the nose this is pretty simple. I don't get much barrel character at all, then this becomes all chocolate and sweetness. Some caramel, some coco powder.
M/O: I was surprised at how thin the feel is here. I usually don't want a huge and overbearing sticky feeling, but this is thin and not much carbonation. That, and the lack of any real depth here doesn't make me want to come back.
This shows itself on the first sip, and doesn't develop into anything special that would entice me to come back. While normally a 13% ABV stout tends to be overly messy and overbearing, there are examples that can pull the heftiness off. This just seems uninspired, and way to thin. So, while not bad, just blah overall.
