Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a clear orange amber color with a small head of white foam. The head fades rather fast, leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a tropical fruit and citrus aroma with tons of tangerine, mango, pineapple, papaya, and an orange juice like smell. Mixed with these aromas is a good showing of a yeast cake and doughy aroma as well as some notes of herb and black pepper. With a matching by come nice grapefruit and herbal hop aromas, a very inviting aroma is produced overall.
Taste - The taste starts out with the tropical and citrus flavors that were detected in the nose, with lots of tangerine, pineapple and mango. Along with these flavors comes some other fruit of apricot and peach as well as some grape. Along with the fruit flavors are some doughy and hoppy flavors, with the hop being strong of grapefruit, but also having notes of pine and herb. The sweeter tastes fade just a tad, while the hop and malty flavors increase in intensity. At the same time some yeast and hay as well as a light pepper and coriander taste develop. While at 10 % abv. the alcohol is very well hidden, and with all the nice tropical/fruit, crisp malty (for 10 % abv.), and good deal of hop, a very nice and clean hopped-up taste is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness with a carbonation level that is average to slightly lower. Overall, the feel is quite nice, accentuating all the big flavors well, while keeping it still dangerously drinkable.
Overall – Really a dangerously delicious brew. Big, bold, hoppy, and clean.
