Received from @r0rschach post NBS BIF 10 – Thanks John! Reviewed 2/22/20.
On bottom of can “09/09/19”. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Mauve, opaque. Last pour has lumps of sediment.
Body – Dark hibiscus, opaque. When held to direct light, desire where the light penetrates.
Head – Large (Maximum 7.2 cm, aggressive center pour), pink, fizzy, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a less than one mm crown and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Strong scent of blackberries.
Flavor – 3.75 – Begins slightly sweet with heavy blackberry presence, ends slightly acidic and slightly sour. No vanilla, no malt. No alcohol (6.8 % ABV as marked on the label.) No diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide. Pie crust?
Palate – 4 – Medium, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75. Good flavor and perfect carbonation for a Berliner Weisse. Alcohol is too high.
