From the Carwyn Cellars "The One" subscription box in March 2023. Drunk in November of that year.
L: Browny-black with a heap of sediment (pecan bits?) huddled at the bottom of the glass. A tan-coloured, thin head sits atop everything, with a little bit of lacing left in the glass as the beer lowers.
S: The nose is pecan pie, fake cherry, creamy vanilla and mild roasted coffee.
T: Strong pecan and mild coffee headline the taste portfolio. It's quite smooth and rounded out nicely by the vanilla. There's a long, sweet finish, but the sweetness lingers just that little too long. The lack of any appreciable carbonation does nothing to kill off that ending, and even though the pecan note hovers around throughout, that sweetness becomes a little overriding in the end. The 10% alcohol is very well hidden.
M: As noted above, carbonation and, indeed, carbonic prickle, are nearly non-existent in the beer, and that lack of snap means the beer finishes long and sweet. The mouthfeel is, as a result, very full and thick.
O: Like most double stouts, especially those leaning towards the pastry end, this is a one-and-done beer. It's just too sweet to go back for a second.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
