Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a small tan colored head. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time and leaving a touch of brown foam lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rather heavy of a roasted malt smell mixed with spice aromas of cinnamon. There is a good sum of chocolate and vanilla cream cheese as well as some notes of a pastry like smell. A touch of brown sugar and caramel round it all out, producing a rather rich aroma overall.
Taste – The taste follows the nose rather well. It begins with a chocolate and roasted malt flavor mixed with a good deal of sweetness, with the sweet being heavy of a brown sugar, toffee, and vanilla Flavor. As the taste advances forward a moderately strong cinnamon flavor develops, with some other flavors of coffee and cream cheese joining in as well. A tiny bit of a marshmallow flavor and a touch of char come at the end, leaving one with a rather rich and roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and sticky with a lower carbonation level. For the heavy and sweet tastes, the feel is fitting, making this a slow dessert sipper.
Overall – A rather rich and heavy stout. A fun one to try, but a bit to sweet for my palate.
