CO-Brew

 

this place is really great, i cant believe it hasnt been added to BA by now, they have been around for years. i always wonder how they do in here, i think its a destination as a homebrew shop, and from broadway, thats all it looks like, supplies for brewers, but inside, the whole back half of the place is a brewery. they do learn to brew classes when folks can go in and work on the system their and make a batch, but they also keep a number of their own beers on tap that you can come here and drink even if you arent shopping for malts and equipment. its sort of an undiscovered gem, as the beer they are producing is fantastic. it shouldnt be surprising, in that they are basically professional homebrewers here with the shop and all, but the stuff they are making is really great. they have a meyer lemon gose thats always a favorite of mine, bright and fresh and clean and refreshing, but they have sours, barrel aged beers, and historical relics like their kottbusser, all of which are well above what some of the more well known operations in the area are producing from a quality standpoint. the staff here has tons of knowledge about beer and brewing and are very liberal with it, i learn something every time i come in. the space might do well to be reversed, brewery in the front, homebrew store in the back, it might increase the foot traffic. i love this place and hope business is good for them, their beer is seriously among the better stuff in denver right now, and there is no pretension at all here. definitely worth a stop in, you have probably driven by a million times like i did and not know it was a brewery to drink beer at!
