16 oz can acclimated to room temperature for 25 minutes and poured into a stout glass.
Pours jet black with no highlights with a 2 finger British khaki head, leaving almost no lacing.
Initial aroma is char, coffee, alcohol, plum, to and cocoa powder.
Initial taste before swallowing is fruity, chocolatey, and almost fudgey.
After swallowing I first get chocolate, then a note of coffee, which fades into char and hops, both of which last into the finish.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 23307 into the test glass.
A - Bakers chocolate brown in color, a very thin cap is quick to exit. No lacing
S - Vanilla, milk chocolate, a bit of roast and hint of char
T - All that with a clear lean into the vanilla, there is milk chocolate and not much else
M - Sweet, slick, medium bodied offering with a semi sweet linger
O - A bit of refining is needed this stayed too sweet for to long. A good effort

Light only passes through the extreme edge of the glass. Near black color. The beige head is brief and leaves no lacing.
The chocolate is the strongest smell followed by some lactose sweetness, cinnamon, and vanilla. Similar to chocolate cake.
The flavor leans more towards the vanilla with semisweet chocolate as an afterthought. Neutral body with an elevated effervescence. The swallow draws out more of the cocoa nib aspect leaving a long aftertaste.

Can code smudge but looks like a code and not a date, looks like 20162, maybe 2020 day 162 (June 10th)?
Pours a med frothy 1 finger off-white head with moderate retention, fair soapy lacing, very dark basically black color
Nose brings plenty of cocoa and vanilla, dark chocolate and hot cocoa, sweet earthy vanilla as well as some vanilla ice cream, a hint of roast, not much else
Taste brings lots of chocolate up front, raw cocoa and hot chocolate rich cocoa, light smooth vanilla with a little spice, a little roast and coffee, some spicy hop notes, med bitterness from hops and malts, touch of alcohol and a little baking spice, again pretty boring otherwise, and drier finish with a little sticky, more hop spice, a little licorice like spice sneaking in there as it warms
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med foamy carb, hint of warming alcohol, a bit cream
Overall eh, not much going on, the cocoa and vanilla was nice, but otherwise there really isn't anything here, a little spice and spicy hops but they don't do much for it, just bland beer

Can from Julio's
Pours a solid black in color with a tin tan head that dissipates. Rich roasty burnt sugary maltiness with bits of dark dried fruits licorice and earth. The burnt roast is a little strong and overpowers the chocolate in the beer but still a nice sipper.

Enjoyed at the brewery grand opening today.
A - Poured into a standard pint glass a nice dark brown almost black with a thin sudsy almost mocha head that fades to leave light wisps. Think this is a pour inconsistency because I've seen pints going out with nice heads.
S - Aromas of darker malts, light roast. Actually as it warms the roasty notes get a bit more intense. Chocolate and vanilla are somewhat faint unfortunately. Flashes of an almost medicinal / wet dog going on which is super bizarre.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice roasted malts, dark, nice deeper chocolate notes. Light bakers chocolate notes. The vanilla is a bit on the subtle side. The oats are super light.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little creamy, decent body but almost a bit thin.
O - Overall this was a solid enough stout. I'd like a bit more vanilla on this but the roast notes are great.
