West Coast Chinookie

this place is so awesome, a totally random find, but i loved it in here, and am already looking forward to a return visit sometime. this was my favorite of the two beers we had in here, a west coast style prominently featuring chinook hops, its a great beer, simple and drinkable, well balanced and robustly hoppy, showing the fruitier side of chinook which is often overlooked in favor of its capacity for bittering. just off perfectly clear, with a high rising airy white head on it and a lot of dank sticky aromatics, notes of heady sativa, pine sap, and fresh sliced orange, its attractive and sort of all season to me. the grain is relatively minimal, a pale two row barley might be all, and i like that in this context, lets more of the nuance of the chinook come out, a still underappreciated varietal in this context in my opinion despite its popularity and longevity. medium body and awesome carbonation but not so much that it cuts off the oily sticky hops too soon, perfectly matched to the hops here. i could drink pint after pint of this one, more and more fruitiness like pineapple and lime come out as it warms, and its almost refreshing for the style. a great glass of beer!
