From a can dated 04.03.19
Dark , dirty-oil brown, with 1 1/2 fingers of finely-bubbled tan head, that leaves a ring, and a litle lacing.
Smells like chocolate syrup, with a hint of vanilla. As it warms, some coffee aroma becomes noticeable.
Taste is roasted chocolate (think crisp edge of the corner piece in the brownie pan) , a touch of maple syrup, black coffee, charred wood, finishing with some vanilla-bean-in-alcohol & light bitterness.
Feel is initially medium creamy , becoming oily. Moderate , moderately sharp , very fine carbonation, that works with the bitterness to balance the sweetness. Slight warming initially, that becomes less noticeable. Guessing that will become unoticeable in a few weeks.
Overall, a pleasant sipper. Dangerously smooth and easy-drinking. Nicely balanced, & not too sweet. I like the base beer slightly better, probably because the maple is more prominent in that, but this version is still very good. This has a bit more carbonation, so is an improvement in that regard.
