a strong milk stout with cherry and chocolate, and like their coconut and chocolate one, the added ingredients are well restrained here, and this is festive without being overly flavored, i think a smart call. subtle hints of black cherry, cherry cordial, and good high end dark chocolate, but the malt still drives it, the lactose creams it up in texture without making it sweet, and there is quite a bit of depth to this, nice winter sipper for sure. hints of raisin, milk chocolate, molasses, and figs in here, not way different than the coconut one as a base beer, but the alcohol is more reserved, which i really appreciate. this is noticeably strong without being over the top. the sweetness draws it out and extends the cherry and chocolate character, but this isnt desserty or too heavy in body. its mellow in feel, smooth to drink, and clean enough at the end of each sip. very dark organic quality to the cherry, right in the center of this, other dried fruits as well, chocolate covered cranberries also come to mind. tasty stout, the most refined of the several we had while we were in last week, these guys are doing a lot of things well!

Notes: As the BA who added this beer, I wanted to give some descriptions from the can. . . .

"Cherry & Chocolate Imperial Stout."

And: "Contains Lactose ENJOY IMMEDIATELY."

Anyway, here's the review:

A: Poured from the can into a Palm tulip, this is motor-oil-black, with no head at all.

S: Holy shit, this beer smells *exactly* like those chocolate-covered cherry cordials that you tend to see this time of year. Right down to the liqueur that leaks out when you bite into them. Cherries and chocolate are the obvious, primary scents, but there's that cherry cordial liqueur smell too. Interesting. Unique. And pleasant.

T: It follows the nose, with chocolate (milk, not dark), a touch of that liqueur I mentioned earlier, and cherries. Dark cherries. Finishes with a faint reminder of Dr. Pepper soda. Maybe more than faint. . . . Think flat Dr. Pepper.

M: Medium in heft, no real carbonation. (Hence the *flat* Dr. Pepper reference, above.)

O: Really good. Different, and yet comfortably in the Double American Stout category (or whatever they're calling it these days).
