Canned 4/28/20. Unopened can let sit out for 20 minutes or so.
Medium milky pinkish-red with light , off-white head.
Smell is lightly sour raspberry & blackberry. A slight vanilla+creamy smell also. Although the aroma seems of moderate strength, there's enough there that I can actually get a light taste of it, on the front half of the tongue, just from breathing it in.
The taste is very closely follows the nose. The berry flavors aren't melded into one uniform flavor : it's more of a Venn diagram, with one basic blended flavor, that the three separate ones occasionally stick out from. The vanilla/cream from the lactose, comes after the moderate, rounded, sour berry flavor, and is slightly more pronounced than in the aroma. There is a very slight, very brief, lightly bitter herbal flavor in the transition. I assume that is from the Michigan Copper hops. (I usually get horehound+sage from that hop, in beers where it is more abundant than in this one.) Light bitterness comes in about half-way . Not getting anything specific from the Citra hops. Probably just adds to the mild sourness.
Feel is thick, creamy, and smooth, with some light-moderate, very fine carbonation, that, along with the light bitterness, lets you know it's a beer, not a fruit smoothie.
Overall, another beauty in this series. Great balance between sweet, sour, & bitter. If you see it, get it. Even if you're not a fan of sour NEIPAs. I'm not generally a fan of fruited beers, but I AM a fan of this. Give it a try! :)
