Canned 9/15/20. "Tea It Up!"
Let warm ~10 minutes before opening.
Hazy yellowy-orange , with 1/2 finger of quickly-dissipating off-white head. Looks like slightly diluted apricot nectar.
Smell is mostly mango, with slight aromas of lemon, tea, and cream (contains lactose). The open can provides a bit stronger tea+lemon rind , than from the glass, and overshadows the mango.
Taste is mostly mango, with slight sweet vanilla (lactose). Medium sour, with light bitterness on the finish. Lemon is barely there, and only shows up after finish. There is a very faint, drying herbal flavor that shows up at first contact with the palate, then disappears til after finish. (Neat trick :) ) Not sure if this is the tea, hops, or both.
Feel is light-medium, juicy, with light, but noticeable very, very, very fine carbonation tingle. As mentioned above, there is a drying sensation that starts at finish, and lingers awhile. Reminds me of the same effect of Kuhnhenn's Double Rice IPA, but to a lesser degree. Took 3 or 4 sips to get used to that (As w/ DRIPA ;) ), but I really like that, and (IMHO) adds to the enjoyment of it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I'd rate it as my 3rd favorite of the Trippy Tree series. If you're expecting a beer version of hard ice tea + fruit - don't! Think of it more as a mango sour, with some additions. In any event, it's another top-notch sour NEIPA from Beer Tree. Well-done! :)
