This 4.8% Schwarzbier has a mouthwatering roasted aroma and exhibits delightful notes of chocolate and roasted coffee on the palate. Robust, smooth, and ridiculously gnarly. Whether you're a snowbird shredding, or cozied up watching holiday movies, Lift Lager is the lager for you!

This was yet another beer that I ordered on Tavour late last year as I finally got around to it on yet another cool spring night. As was the case with much of what I ordered, this was true to stylistic form and in addition, was tough to keep in my glass for the duration of this review. Indeed, this was an easy sipper that went down nearly effortlessly!
Brown, nearly clear, and with some garnet seeping in around the edges, this had a full head of tan bubbles that never fully settled down as the lacing left behind was more extensive as thick wavy clumps stayed behind along the top half of my glass. Lots of roasted coffee in the nose with some chocolate, molasses, and sarsaparilla as the taste was slick up front, cloying in the middle, and dry in the back as there was quite a bit of dark bread and some nuts that ensured that a bit of water would be needed to tone the roast down a bit. The bitterness and carbonation were persistent, but on the lighter side, as this felt like flat soda minus the overly sticky nature of a bubbly beverage.
It would be easy to quaff a few of these in a sitting, if you were willing to put up with the tingle that stayed on my palate after I finished this off as there were hints of peat moss in the aftertaste. Couldn't read the date on the bottom of the can but this held up well as I'd easily reach for this again if I had a fresher can. Lots to like here as this easily deserved it's rating on here!

16 oz can from Tavour. Black pour with a thin, creamy beige head. Roasty aroma, notes of chocolate. Taste starts with roasty bitterness, then sweetness and chocolate. Bitterness lingers for a while. Reminds me of eating a semi-sweet chocolate bar.

Canned 12/23/21 . Let sit out for 5 minutes, before opening.
Dark cola-brown, with a little over one finger of tan head, that dissipates to a thin ring.
Smell is light cola, roasted nuts, fresh pumpernickel, and a touch of earthy char.
Taste is pretty much same as aroma, but slightly drier, with some light bitterness .
Feel is light, but not watery, smooth, with light-moderate, very, very fine carbonation tingle on the latter half, lending a slightly drying finish.
Overall , a pleasure, and a surprise, as this is their first take on this style. Easy-drinking - so much so, that I finished it as I'm typing this line. If you see it , get it. :)
