From a pint can, poured into a beer glass.
Dark roasted malty flavors, and mild dark roasted coffee flavors dominate the flavor profile, along with some bittersweet cocoa notes.
Light bodied mouthfeel with a dry finish.

Canned 2023/10/31

Pours a fizzy bubbly tan 1/2 finger head that fades quickly, low retention, no lacing, very dark basically black color

Nose nice dark roasted malt, a bit of dark chocolate cocoa notes, hint char like roast, nice Irish stout roast level, then gets nutty, and hint of caramel cream note

Taste brings more dark roasted malts, hinting at smoky but not quite there, no char or acrid, big roasted malt, dark dark chocolate, some coffee notes, mild bitter roasted malt tannin, light earthy hop note, a touch creamy like coffee and cream note, mild nutty characters as well, no caramel or sweet characters, drier finish, med bitterness lingering

Mouth is med to fuller bod, a touch creamy like, dry finish, med carb

Overall pretty nice Irish dry stout

An easy pour released a finger of creamy tan froth with long retention and streaks of lacing. Dark brown (almost black) body, semi-opaque with reddish-brown highlights.

Deep smell of roasted and toasted malts, chocolate, coffee and toffee greets the nose. Mild herbal/floral hops with a faint alcohol smell.

Neutral taste with low bitterness at first, items from the smell are more pronounced with chocolate way out in front. Baked apple and dried cherry flavors emerge. Bitterness builds to average as it quickly dries with an acceptable astringency that disappears after two sips. Hop flavor and average bitterness lingers as the malt flavor drops off fast.

Meduim bodied with soft, lasting carbonation. The feel is a little oily yet smooth and well balanced. Alcohol is well hidden, and it warms well. True-to-style and session-able.

Pitch black body with brown edging, with three fingers of light brown foam, sporadic lacing. Roasted malt, hint of raisin, char and earthy dark yeast nose. Taste is mostly roasted malt and dry Irish yeast, earth and dark chocolate support. Like a lighter and thinner Guinness with less roast emphasis, drier and more rustic. Would rather have Guinness but this isn’t bad

A nicely made Irish Stout pours a classic black topped by a fluffy tan head , nose produces the expected chocolate coffee combo , mouthful punches well above its ABV , taste is a nice rounded and roasted chocolate coffee, this is a solid low ABV Stout, Irish or otherwise

Beer Tree Brew Co. "Dry Irish Goodbye"
$7/pint @ The Pour House, Montgomeryville, PA on 12 OCT 2022

Notes: Typical deep brown/black body beneath a finger’s width of creamy tan foam. This is not a nitro beer and that's fine, there's no rule that Irish stout has to be served via nitrogen carbonation and dispense; Guinness didn't even invent that until 1961. The head retention is very good but the lacing is just OK (dirty bar glass?). It's gently roasty and chocolatey in the nose. The flavor follows with some added caramel and it’s a little more caramelish than expected for a dry Irish stout, but OK. There's some underlying fruitiness from the yeast. There are no clear hop flavors as it should be, but I do get some sublime leafiness which is nice. It's also not acidic like Guinness and it doesn't have that special "tang", but again there's no rule that it has to ~ this time, however, unlike the modern nitrogenization that Guinness brought about to replicate the creaminess of a beer engine pulled cask ale, all Irish stouts were probably acidic up until the early 1900's. It's median to moderate in bitterness but still dry in the finish with an ashen roastiness lingering. All in all I call it a good go at the style ignoring what Guinness has done with it, and I'm OK with that.

Pours a deep muddy brown with a tan head.

Smells faintly of chocolate and coffee and sweet biscuit malt.

Fizzy bubbly with chocolate and coffee notes - bitter not sweet - and a slight sweet bread/biscuit malt.

Very dark brown , with 1+ fingers of tan head.

Smell is roasty malt, slight charred wood, and roasted nuts.

Taste is similar to aroma, with a bit more nutty flavor than present in aroma. Light bitterness.

Feel is light, with moderate, very fine carbonation bite.

Overall, a good dry Irish stout.
