Introducing our brand-new experimental series, "New Trees." Each brew in the series promises a unique tasting experience, pushing the boundaries of what we traditionally brew and inviting beer enthusiasts to embark on a journey of discovery. The first of our series, New Trees #001, is a double dry hopped sour with a bold and refreshing tartness that harmonizes with juicy citrus notes from Galaxy and Cashmere hops.

Canned 02/20/2024. Let sit out 10 minutes, before opening.
Hazy gold, with slight apricot tint. One finger of finely-textured white head.
Smell is peach and fresh orange creamsicle, with a little fresh crackery malt. No sourness apparent til the head dissipates . Smells like a NEIPA* at this point. Then it becomes a medium-sour mix of orange peach and mango. It smells more like sour raw fruit than a sour beer, but if anything, it leans towards a Berliner weisse .
Taste is ....wow!...... what I wish for in fruited sours, or juicy NEIPAS - a mix similar to the aroma , with fresh orange, tangelo, mango, peach, and maybe a little guava. There's also a light, lightly-bitter, herbal flavor in the background. It reminds me of some of my favorite BTBC beers (that have unfortunately gone away), with Michigan Copper hops. That is , the herbal flavor is reminiscent of fresh horehound & sage, though maybe a bit less prominent, and definitively that, as with the Michigan Copper beers. Overall, the bitterness is light, but noticeable, and persists after finish. Moderate sourness, that doesn't overshadow the other elements.
Feel is juicy , medium-slick, with moderate, very, very fine, semi-sharp carbonation tingle, with slight bite at the end. Drying aftertaste. No noticeable alcohol presence, other than the slight internal warming as I near finish. The sourness is there, but no feeling at the back of the throat that I usually get with berliners, or wild/sour ales.
Overall, L_O_V_E__I_T!!!!
This is reminiscent of some of their early work with "Sour IPAs"*, & the Trippy Tree series, though less sweet than TT.
"Boysen Back In Town" , though with different fruit flavor, is what this brings to mind.
Everything is well-balanced, & the fact that there is no fruit in this - it's all hops - is amazing. I'll be going back for more, & hope this becomes a permanent part of the rotation, as-is [hint!] , without being turned into a sweeter version.
* When entering this, I wasn't sure to place it in "Fruited Kettle Sour", as there is no fruit, or "NEIPA" , as it is DDH'd , so maybe a sour IPA ? It works either way, but it does come across as a fruited sour, albeit a tad less sour than that usually entails, and despite there being no fruit in it.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
