Beautiful clear mahogany color with a thin tight off white head.
It's smells and tastes very complex. Much going on but all blends perfectly well together.
It almost has a barrel aged taste in the finish.
Very jammy.
The hops just melt into the mix beautifully.
One of the better Barleywines I've had recently.

This is a wonderful example of a deliciously abrasive American barleywine. Sweet caramel and butterscotch up front with just a little char character to them. I also get sugar cookies and some odd jammy-ness, is pineapple jam a thing? The finish adds just the right amount of pithy bitterness and nice dose of heat. This is a great American barleywine in my glass!

Boozy but good malting. Some people in the crowd really like this straightforward style, and my crowds are no exception. So that was worth getting and bringing.

Shared a couple cans of this with a friend of mine and we were both really thought it was excellent. Fantastic appearance clear orange red. Good two fingers vanilla colored head. Aroma multi fruity. Taste almost like an IPA the Hops do come through. this is really good. Strong as drinking a glass of wine . Not too keen on the name but this is a great beer I will buy it again. Highly recommended

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice reddish brown with a thin layer of off-white head. The nose is really great on this one. Strawberry jam, apricot, raisin, watermelon, a touch of vanilla, and a wonderful layer of shortbread cookie.

The taste is a wonderful mix of toffee, raisin, plum, apricot, slight leather, an ever-so-slight note of citrus peel, spice, and oak. This is really well done. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite dry on the finish. More of the "American" barleywine actually hits on the aftertaste - this is where the hoppy notes come through.

Wisely, perhaps, this episode takes place in the safe confines of a home. A pint can was emptied entirely into a clear glass liter mug. The pour produced too much biege head to be deemed satisfactory. It's thick and slow to recede. The color of the liquid is caramel-brown, but not nearly as dark as a cola soft drink. In fact, it's relatively bright and more translucent than expected. Maybe it's because of all the foam, but it's not very aromatic. There is some malted barley and some soft hopping, but this is unremarkable for the nose. Yet, it is flavorful, with strong taste references of toffee and dried fruit, perhaps figs or dates. As expected, it's sweet, but not overly so for the style. Although the taste of alcohol isn't a problem, it contributes as much to the dry bite at the finish as the hops. The mouthfeel is lighter than some barleywines, which is a good thing, in that it goes down quickly very easily. Obviously, with an 11.3 ABV, that's also a bad thing. The foam turns into some significant, but irregular glass lacing. Overall, this is a very drinkable barleywine, as opposed to one that must be sipped to be appreciated. That means it doesn't have the complexity of flavors the best in its style have. But, it's quite drinkable and there's passable character to both taste and feel.

Just appeared at the store, but the can says it was canned 12/27/2023.

Clear deep orange-amber, with 1/.2 finger of tan head.

Smell is an even mix of caramel, toffee, and molasses+honey.

Taste more-or-less follows the nose. Light bitterness at finish and beyond, less than typical American BWs, but still a touch more than English. A tad less sweet than most , which is to my preference. Getting a faint woody note, as I'm halfway through, & it starts to warm.

Feel is medium, mildly-slick & syrupy , with light, very, very, fine carbonation tingle. No noticeable alcohol, other than how my head is starting to feel. ;)

Overall , a fine brew. Dangerously easy-drinking. Seems to split the difference between American & English barleywines, and as it's a tad less sweet , it goes down easier. :)
