16oz crowler from the brewery.
Huge, dense, rocky 2" tan head with amazing retention. Beer is a mahogany color - clear and clean. Thick, foamy lacing.
Bakers cocoa, grain, brown bread, earthy - faint yeasty esters in the background. Smoky note. Malt driven with a great aroma.
Tasty brown ale. Complex malt flavors with chocolate, coffee, smoke, grain all taking a turn.
Medium body, lower carbonation apparent and a malty finish with some heat -- enough hops here to dry this out for a long, flavorful finish.
Impressed with this beer, a cut above what could sometimes be a ho-hum style.
