Had on tap at the brewery.
On arrival a fine white one finger head with very nice retention was present. Nice lacing. Body is a mostly hazy darker gold.
Aroma is...weird for the style. It almost smells belgian. It's like a vaguely belgian blonde. There's yeast character but it's not right... it has a slightly hoppy and fruity/spicy cream ale vibe.
Taste has a hint of that banana, but not before it gets too clean and malty. Again a nice twist on a blond but not really a hefe.. tastes better than it looks, but it almost has a macro lager note in there.
Feel is light dry and attenuated. I want more body from a german hefe. It would be right if this was an American wheat but it's not that in flavor either. Too light. Carbonation is medium high.
Overall this was disappointing. Quality control could've at least suggested this not be sold as a hefeweizen, but it feels like something I would make at home. Meh
