I am eager to try a beer from the city of Brotherly Love, Sylvie. I am using a pint glass and serving at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy, airy, creamy, two-fingered, light tan head and a steady retention. The slow dissipation left chunks of lacing on the glass. The color is dark brown, nearly black, charting at SRM 34, and is opaque. The appearance of the beer is above average.
Nosing the glass, I smell chocolate, cereal grains, roasted notes, char, and lightly toasted malts. Smelling the glass again, I notice a bitterness from dark roasted malts, earthy dirt, medium roasted coffee, anise, and molasses.
On the first sip, I taste dark bittersweet chocolate, medium-roasted coffee, anise, molasses, dark-roasted malts, bitterness, earthy dirt, oatmeal, lightly toasted malt, and malty sweetness.
The mouthfeel is creamy, smooth, and dry. The body is medium and has medium-low carbonation.
As a no-frills English Stout, this is a solid stout. However, the bitterness in the beer, while a characteristic of dark roasted malts, is a bit too intense for my personal taste. Despite this, the beer is a beautiful way to finish a busy day, and I can see its appeal to those who enjoy a more robust flavor profile.

Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is very dark brown, head is tan with fine bubbles presents one finger thick, head dissipates to thin top and remains throughout, spotty lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is roast and black malt, lighter coffee and chocolate notes.
Taste is roast and black malt, coffee and chocolate, subtle grassy hops; excellent flavor with sweeter undertone.
Mouthfeel is lower carbonation, moderate sweetness, low bitterness.
Overall amazing flavor at this ABV - not overly sweet or roasted but balances the stout notes while leaning on the slightly smokey black malt

Pours a dark black with a nice thick head. Aroma is slight, of roasty malts, and the taste is super roasty, fairly dry, a bit of bitterness and maybe a slight touch of sourness. Lightish to medium feel.

Poured on tap from the brewery. Pours a deep black color with a thick off-white colored head that laces the glass nicely on the way down. Smells of deep roasted malts, hints of coffee, chocolate. Taste is roasted malts and some light oats, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Feel is excellent, overall smooth with some crisp-ness at the end, perfect amount of carbonation, very light feeling. Excellent rendition of an otherwise overlooked style.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. No canning information.
L--- Clear dark brown poured through sunlight. Darkest opaque brown in the glass. Medium light brown head faded quickly down to a ring and left ok lacing.
S---Roasty malts. Strong espresso, light cocoa.
T---Espresso & chocolate. Lingering roasty finish.
F---Thicker than expected for 5.0% ABV. Medium carbonation.
O---I'm starting to like this brewery. This is a really flavorful beer for its light ABV.

Very dark brown with a deep tan head, two 12 oz. cans contributed their contents into a clear glass liter mug. There's plenty of carbonation, so it is a considerably large and fluffy head. Roasted malt is in the vicinity, blessed with hints of oats. Even with the abundant carbonation, this is a smooth drinking stout. Slightly sweet at the onset, the roasted characteristics of the malt and some hoppiness help the taste transition to a black coffee like bitterness at the finish. The oats do little to deter that effect and seem to contribute more to the initial sweetness and overall smoothness of the brew. A very pleasant tasting and drinking stout here.
