Lock-In is a supremely easy-drinking traditional English-style Pub Ale brewed with Pale Ale and Crystal malts with East Kent Goldings hops. This classic style features lightly floral tea-like hop character with notes of toffee, caramel malt and a balanced hop bitterness.

As it should be, this was served in a clear pint glass having been drawn from a cask by a hand pump. This, only a few miles from the brewery in Olde City Philadelphia. Of course, there's a sizeable foamy off-white head, but rather than being annoying, it's lovely. Beneath the head rests a brew that's very dark amber, so much so, it's approaching brown. It's opaque, but bright and not at all murky. It smells like a proper English bitter, mildly malty and mildly hoppy. The taste brings both of those a little bolder and adds a very pleasant nuttiness to the taste. Like good ones within the style, it has an overall dryness to it. Of course, being drawn from a cask by the beer engine, this is much smoother than any other delivery can make a beer. There's even some great glass lacing, too. It's an amazing throw-back to drinking bitters in England fifty years ago. Overall, this might even be a little fuller tasting and richer in body than they were.
