13 oz pour from cask. Look is deep, rich brown color with light tan cap that sticks around for a while. Smell is roasted malt, roasted nuts. Taste follows with roasted malt character up front with a bit of sweetness. Middle sees roasted nuts and a bit of berry flavor. Some bitterness squeezes in. Finish is quick with more roasted character, and an earthy kick. Feel is soft and lightly carbonated. Coming from the cask at cellar temperature gives the body a nice creamy mouthfeel. Overall, I love finding something like this poured from hand pump. The feel is amazing and the temperature allows the flavors to change, yet meld together into something that really pops. I had two and it wasn't enough!

This serving was drawn by hand pump from a cask and delivered inside a clear pint glass. It's almost black coffee brown and came with a modest and enduring beige head. Its aroma is a pleasant blend of roasted barley malt and roasted coffee. To taste, there's a little more black coffee than the better balanced aroma. If you love black coffee, that's not such a bad thing. There's obviously plenty of malt included, as the body is supple and the stratified glass lacing spectacular. However, like many coffee stouts, the mouthfeel runs a little thinly. With its relatively low ABV and full coffee taste, it's likely you'll get caffeine jitters before you get drunk. Truly not a bad idea for a mid-day beer, but if one is caffeine sensitive, a restless night might result.

on nitro draft at the brewery, served in nonic pint glass

very dark brown, with creamy layer of off-white colored head. nice pleasant espresso aroma. The roasted coffee works with the toasted malt. Drier finish. Smooth feel from the nitro pour
