1st review of this beer on BA. I believe it was Sheldon who picked up a crowler of this that we drank before the Firestone Walker Festival 2018. Twas good stuff, did not know there was rye in it.
Pours a dark golden light amber color of an overripe nectarine. Creamy head 1/3" white. Big Citra bang in the aroma, all the tangerine and orange you can shake a stick at. Motueka gives it more of a dank citrus.
Taste, wow, Moksa has a few real good Nelson hopped ipas, and now this one joins that group of elite bangers. Great tangerine nose and taste. The rye provides a bit of color and depth malt wise. There is nothing like that ol reliable "spicy" descriptor everytime rye comes up, this was more like a like crystal malt effect that worked very well. Doesn't finish dry, but does finish gushing with clementine saturation.
This was so easy to crush, would have had no problem keeping it to myself. The picture of the crowler we had clearly says 5.5% abv, but the Moksa website says 8.5%.
