Picked up a 4 pack of this last December. Just added it to the database here almost a year later, but I'll review it because I'm not a total sociopath.
Pours a lightly cloudy yellow gold familiar pilsner color despite the commercial tug job about being clear. 1/3" white head.
Also, we need an American pilsner category, this thing is chock full of proprietary (i.e. non traditional pilsner hops) hops. The aroma smacks of heavy down under hops, Riwaka, Nelson, Moteuka and whatever Pacific Sunrise is (brought nothing unique beyond what those other 3 similar hops bring). A light diesel character, big down under breathiness and gooseberry, light persimmon like fruit influence to it, light lager impression noticeable.
The taste imparts hoppiness first, lager yeast second. There is a little tradeoff between the hoppiness and the lesser pilsner malt and crispness I prefer to find. Instead you get an IPL like level of hoppiness which does taste nice. It doesn't have that pungent Nelson dankness, but Moteuka and Riwaka seem to do the heavy lifting here with similar, but different notes than Nelson.
