n one of our recent barrel tastings, these Henry McKenna barrels we filled a couple years ago really stood out. All of them exhibited a striking, rich chocolate character - something we’d never anticipated from smelling the fresh barrels themselves. Among the group of these barrels, one in particular showed off just the right balance, we felt, to stand on its own. In addition the chocolate notes, some deep caramel, a hint of smoke, and a forward-but-not-hot spirit character rounds it out, with a unique finish of sweet vanilla and dark berries. We’re proud to showcase this as the first of two single barrel picks for our ‘23-’24 Advocators.
